OSHA launched its National Emphasis Program (NEP) on April 8, 2022 to protect workers from heat-related hazards in indoor & outdoor work environments in all industries. There will be major focus on 70 high-risk industries, including contractors & construction. OSHA will now be conducting site scheduled inspections to enforce compliance, they will be based on priority of severity i.e. (fatalities, serious injuries reported, employee complaints, referrals, etc....). OSHA has established heat priority days when the heat index is over 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
